Consulting

Within our consulting activities, our focus is on helping companies to implement OJT systems and we provide a complete suite of tools to help accomplish that goal.  Over the years, as we have helped many companies implement or reengineer their OJT systems, we have learned that no two companies are the same, everyone does OJT differently, and a cookie cutter approach will not work.

Depending upon the client needs, we can either audit an existing OJT system or propose a strategy for implementing a new OJT system.  In either case we start with a thorough understanding of the objectives and definitions of success.

If the task is an audit of an existing system, we will define the parameters and metrics we will examine and define the specific information required in order to meet any necessary corporate directives.  For a complete system proposal we need much more information, specifically information on the amount of effort the company is willing to put into the system. After meeting with the stake holders, management, other personnel and examining current training activities, we can reply with a proposal for further action.

When either defining or auditing an OJT system we start with a list of the components of an OJT system that we have built up over the years.  This forms the basis of our work and becomes an invaluable tool that is used to provide closure and expedite decision-making.

We look at the implementation phase as a cross between a project and a HR intervention.   OJT is an effort that usually extends over several organizational boundaries and therefore successful implementation requires the cooperation of many different organizations. We approach this phase of the task very carefully and with significant planning, being sure to include all of the stakeholders.

If you have any questions regarding our approach to OJT or would just like to discuss OJT, please contact us.  We would be pleased to help you with your OJT efforts.
